Team FAB is a blog for six friends to post their unique brand of nonsense. What started as a simple blog has expanded to become a multi-coloured empire of awesome, with a devoted following, podcasts, vodcasts, and even a book on the way.
Team FAB had outgrown their Blogspot-hosted blog, and wanted a site that was completely theirs, with a look which reflected their whimsical posting style, and a way of streamlining the management of some of their long-running features, including the ‘Quotes Page’ with gems gleaned from their online conversations, the ‘Dorktionary’ of inside jokes and more.
At the heart of Team FAB is their blog, so I decided to implement their new site as a bespoke Wordpress template. Because of the great density of information and functionality within the site, we opted for a three-column format.
I developed a number of unique templates for their quotes page, ‘dorktionary’ and personal profiles which rendered this different information in a customised way. Instead of the quotes page being an unwieldy single post, I developed a database-powered backend for the simplified management of quotes, which were also able to be shown in different parts of the site.
A year after this initial design went live, I have started work on a replacement design which aims to open up the site for a more fluid look which draws on a range of Team FAB’s inside running jokes. Check out this page soon to find out what I did for Team FAB again!
